Travel Details
AccomodationsZihua has a wide range of accommodation options, but we recommend for price and experience one of the many boutique villas where you can book per room or the whole property for a group of friends or family.
A few villa’s recommended by our planner include:
Villa de la Roca, Casa de Cielo, Villa Los Arcos, and Amuleto. Many others can be found on Airbnb or CasitaMx.
If you’d like to enjoy complete relaxation and pampering, La Villa Luz, and The Thompson, both come highly recommended as more traditional hotel options.
For more budget friendly hotel picks we recommend Villa Naomi Hotel, or Hotel Aura del Mar.
Arrival / AirportZihua is a short 20 minute taxi from the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). Taxi rides from the airport to hotels in town will cost ~$11 USD depending on time of day, and can be arranged from within the airport on arrival.
From Toronto and San Francisco, all flights will connect through Mexico City, Houston, or LA.
Getting AroundMuch of Zihua is walkable, especially from many of the hotels to the beach.
For any car trips, we recommend taking a taxi which are plentiful and inexpensive ($0.50 - $5 USD per trip in town) — Uber and Lyft do not operate in Zihua.

Speaking Spanish &
Making PurchasesZihua is a little off the beaten path, and we recommend brushing up on a few common words and phrases to help navigate town. You can also download Google Translate to help when in a pinch. We also recommend packing Pesos (MXN) to pay for small purchases or tips throughout your visit.
Things to Do
About ZihuaZihuatanejo (zee-wa-ten-eh-hoe) sits along Mexico’s west coast, known historically as a fishing village, but growing in popularity in recent years as a destination for its beautiful beaches. Why get married in Zihua? We have loved both of our trips to Mexico in the past few years as a couple, and wanted to celebrate and share with our closest family and friends the experience of the food, culture, and beauty of this place.
RelaxingPlaya La Ropa Beach is the focal point of Zihua, and we highly recommend spending lounging at one of the many bars and restaurants that dot the beach. A good book by a hotel pool also is our idea of a nice afternoon!
AdventureOn Sea
There are countless options, including sunset sailing trips, catamaran tours, snorkeling trips, surfing, paragliding, and seasonal whale watching excursions.
More Info on recommended tour operatiors coming soon.
On Land
Take the opportunity to visit a local market (one of our personal favorites), walk along the boardwalk and fisherman stalls, or schedule time to take a cooking class (most hotels can help arrange this, or check out airbnb experiences!)
Food & DrinkBetween celebrations, the following restaurants have been recommended to us:
